Welcome to the Viking Park Master Plan website!

The Gurnee Park District continues to advance park improvements and planning goals defined in their District's 5-Year Strategic Master Plan to maintain the high quality of park and recreation services for their community.

Parks master plans are essential to provide a road map for the Park District on future improvements to their parks. The Viking Park master plan will consist of analyzing the current conditions and programming, connecting with the community, staff and stakeholders for input, prioritizing the data gathered and determining an implementation plan that will take into consideration funding and potential grant opportunities. 

Viking Park is a vital hub for the community, offering athletic facilities, playgrounds, walking paths, rental spaces, and hosting events and summer camps. This master plan aims to build on the park's existing features, incorporating community input to create a space that fulfills the needs of local residents.

Viking Park 

Located on Old Grand Avenue next to Viking Middle school, this park offers several recreational opportunities. This community park has basketball courts, sport fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, and a bandshell.
